DMACC Bear Alert is a system for quickly delivering emergency messages by email, cell and land line phones and speakers to credit students, faculty and staff on all DMACC Campuses. Bear Alert is built upon the InformaCast System.

The system will be activated when there are immediate threats to the safety of those on a DMACC Campus or weather-related closings. Notifications will be sent via the DMACC phone system and intercom speakers and to email, cell, and land line phones. Messages will be brief, include basic information and provide instructions on how to obtain more details.​

​Bear Alert is a system that allows emergency messages to be sent to DMACC phones and through a speaker system. A DMACC Crisis Management Team Member can send a live broadcast through the phone services menu. Messages can be district wide, campus specific or on some campuses, building specific. The Bear Alert platform allows messages to be sent via email, cell and landline phones.

Student, faculty, and staff DMACC email addresses and phone numbers in the DMACC system are automatically put in the Bear Alert system. To further manage your account, download the Informacast app, which powers Bear Alert, from the Apple or Google Play​ stores.

There is no need to sign up for the alerts that are broadcast over DMACC phones and speakers.

The visually impaired can hear the emergency messages by phone or speaker. The hearing-impaired can be informed by non-hearing impaired students, faculty and staff or by getting text messages.

​The DMACC Bear Alert - Emergency Notification System will be activated in potentially dangerous situations and weather-related closings. The system would be activated for events reflecting immediate pending danger such as a violent person on campus, a dangerous chemical spill, or a bomb threat evacuation.​

​Yes, credit students, faculty, and staff DMACC email addresses and phone numbers in the DMACC system are automatically put in the Bear Alert system.​

​A Bear Alert will be broadcast in a timely manner as soon as all appropriate information is reviewed and a decision is made to broadcast an alert.

The DMACC Crisis Management Team (CMT) is authorized to send out a Bear Alert.

​Information regarding a DMACC alert will be posted on the DMACC website as is deemed appropriate by the Crisis Management Team (CMT).

​Student, faculty, and staff DMACC email addresses and phone numbers in the DMACC system are automatically put in the Bear Alert system and voice and text messages will be sent to the numbers in the system.​
