Spring 2025 Auditions

Auditions for:

Ride the Cyclone, by Jacob Richmond & Brooke Maxwell

Auditions will be held in the Black Box Theatre in Building 5 on the Ankeny Campus.

Monday, January 27, 6-9pm
CALLBACKS: Tuesday, January 28, 6-9pm

Rehearsals for Ride the Cyclone, directed by Brynn Sweere, music directed by Brynn Sweere & Sonya Siebert, Choreographed by Michael Tomlinson, will start rehearsal on Sunday, February 2; tech week begins on March 30, at which time actors and crew can expect more rehearsal meeting dates and times; performances will be April 4 - 13.

Please know that having conflicts does not preclude you from being cast!

Casting priority will be given to DMACC students.

Offstage

If you are interested in helping with the production offstage, we have several positions available!
Positions for Ride the Cyclone include:

Assistant Stage Manager
Video Projection Design/Build
Board Operators
Performance Ushers

Sign-up

Auditions will be held on Monday, January 27 from 6-9 pm.

Sign up for a time-slot to audition with the form below. Then fill out the Audition Form using the button below. This has important questions about your availability, which we ask that you please thoroughly communicate.

If the audition sign up slots are full, you may come as a walk-up, but understand we will be giving priority to those with a slotted time. We will fit you in as time allows.

If you have any issues on the day and/or time of the audition, please email our Production Manager, Rachel Trimble, with updates.

Sides

Please come prepared with a monologue and song selection.

Monologues should be 60 seconds or less, and memorized (ideally).
Song selections should be a cutting of 32 bars, and we ask that you please bring sheet music for our accompanist.

Please choose a song cutting that best suits your vocal range, that is NOT from Ride the Cyclone, but fits the style and range of your desired role.

Those who receive callbacks will be contacted Monday after auditions via the email provided in your audition form, and should be prepared to read and sing selections from the show, that the production team will provide.

Locations

For visual assistance with where Building 5 is and where to park, here is a link to the campus map, as well as the Building 5 Student Center.

The Black Box is located on the quad side (East side) of the building. If you enter by the Fountain on the East/Quad side of the building, the Black Box is around the corner to the left, following the tiled floor. If you enter by Trail Point Wellness Center, the Black Box is past Trail Point, past Café X, and across from Subway on the right hand side.
