In collaboration with Iowa Stage Theatre Company, an Educational Understudy casting of
Buried Child by Sam Shepard

Auditions will be held in the Black Box Theatre in Building 5 on the Ankeny Campus.

• Monday, August 25th, 6-9pm
• Tuesday, August 26th, 6-9pm
• CALLBACKS [as needed]: Wednesday, August 27th, 6-9pm

Callbacks may be held on an as-needed basis, and will be scheduled for Wednesday, August 27th starting at 6:00 PM and scheduled via the email you provided in your Audition Form.

First Rehearsal: Tuesday, October 7; Rehearsals generally held Sundays 1-5pm, Mon-Thurs 6-9pm
Tech Week: begins Sunday, November 9, 6-11pm
Performances: November 14 - 23.
*those cast for this production are asked to be off-book by first rehearsal

Buried Child by Sam Shepard, directed by Sean Canuso
First Rehearsal: Sunday, September 7, 6:30pm; Rehearsals generally held Sundays-Thurs 6-10pm
Tech Week: begins Sunday, October 12
Performances: October 17 - 26
[October 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25 at 7:30pm / October 19, 25, 26 at 2:00pm].
*those cast as educational understudies for this production are asked to be close to off-book by first rehearsal

Please know that having conflicts does not preclude you from being cast!
Note that casting priority will be given to DMACC students.

Sign-up

Auditions will be held Monday, August 25th & Tuesday, August 26th from 6-9pm
Sign up for a time-slot to audition with the form below. Then fill out the Audition Form using the button below. This has important questions about your availability, which we ask that you please thoroughly communicate.
If the audition sign up slots are full, you may come as a walk-up, but understand we will be giving priority to those with a slotted time. We will fit you in as time allows.
*Please note that casting priority will be giving to DMACC students*

If you have any issues on the day and/or time of the audition, please email our Production Manager, Rachel Trimble, with updates.

Sides

Please come prepared with a monologue.
Monologues should be 60 seconds or less, and memorized (ideally).
Please choose a monologue that is NOT from the shows being casted, but fits the style and range of your desired role.

*Please note that callbacks, if needed, will be given at the discretion of the production team. Preparing materials for a callback does not entitle or guarantee a slot.

Offstage

If you are interested in helping with the production offstage, we have several positions available!

Please contact Production Manager, Rachel Trimble to set up backstage interviews!

Locations

For visual assistance with where Building 5 is and where to park, here is a link to the campus map, as well as the Building 5 Student Center.

The Black Box is located on the quad side (East side) of the building. If you enter by the Fountain on the East/Quad side of the building, the Black Box is around the corner to the left, following the tiled floor. If you enter by Trail Point Wellness Center, the Black Box is past Trail Point, past Café X, and across from Subway on the right hand side.
