Fall 2026 Auditions

Auditions for:

SPAIN by Jen Silverman

Auditions will be held in the Black Box Theatre in Building 5 on the Ankeny Campus.

  • Tuesday, September 1, 6-9pm
  • Wednesday, September, 6-9pm

Additional auditions for our second fall show will be scheduled at a later date, updates will be available soon. 

Show Details

SPAIN by Jen Silverman, directed by Tom Geraty
First Rehearsal: SEPT 6; Rehearsals generally held Sundays 12pm-4pm, Mon-Thurs 6pm-9pm
Tech Week: begins OCT 4, 6-11pm
Performances: OCT 9-18.
[October 9, 10, 15, 16, 17 at 7:30pm / October 11 & 18 at 2:00pm].

Please know that having conflicts does not preclude you from being cast!
Note that casting priority will be given to DMACC students.

 

Sign-up

Auditions will be held Tuesday, September 1 & Wednesday, September 2 from 6-9pm.
Sign up for a time-slot to audition with the button below. Then fill out the Audition Form using the button below. This has important questions about your availability, which we ask that you please thoroughly communicate.
If the audition sign up slots are full, you may come as a walk-up, but understand we will be giving priority to those with a slotted time. We will fit you in as time allows.

If you have any issues on the day and/or time of the audition, please email our Production Manager, Rachel, with updates.

 

Sides

Please come prepared with a monologue.
Monologues should be 60 seconds or less, and memorized (ideally).
Memorization, though encouraged, is not required!

SPAIN  Character Descriptions:

  • JORIS IVENS – Man, 30s, wants to be liked, easygoing, an infiltrator
  • HELEN – Woman, 30s, sharp, pragmatic, an infiltrator
  • JOHN DOS PASSOS (DOS) – Man, early 40s, a deeply decent man who can be naive
  • ERNEST HEMINGWAY (ERNEST) – Man, late 30s, charming, secretly self-hating, 
    overcompensates
  • KARL – Man, can be 40s-60s, should speak Russian

 

Offstage

If you are interested in helping with the production offstage, we have several positions available!
Positions for SPAIN include:

  • Stage Manager
  • Assistant Stage Manager
  • Crew
  • ​​​​​​​Board Ops

Locations

For visual assistance with where Building 5 is and where to park, here is a link to the campus map, as well as the Building 5 Student Center.

The Black Box is located on the quad side (East side) of the building. If you enter by the Fountain on the East/Quad side of the building, the Black Box is around the corner to the left, following the tiled floor. If you enter by Trail Point Wellness Center, the Black Box is past Trail Point, past Café X, and across from Subway on the right hand side.
