WHAT: The DMACC Perry VanKirk Career Academy will help celebrate the arrival of WHO-TV’s RVTV in Perry on Labor Day (Mon., Sept. 2) as RVTV kicks off the countdown to this year's CyHawk football game between the University of Iowa and Iowa State University.
WHO-TV will provide live broadcasts of the epic tailgate event from downtown Perry throughout the day and evening on Labor Day, and RVTV will lead the grand entrance through downtown Perry starting at 1 p.m. After that, there will be three blocks of activities, including live music, a beer garden, inflatables, a cornhole tournament, a tractor show, food trucks and human foosball.
In addition, the DMACC Perry VanKirk Academy will host a Food Drive with all donated items going to the Perry Area Food Pantry. Canned goods can be dropped off at the DMACC VanKirk Academy at 1101 2nd St. in Perry.

WHERE: Downtown Perry
WHO: WHO-TV Sports Director Keith Murphy and the entire WHO-TV sports team have been have been bringing their cameras and microphones to these day-long tailgate parties for decades.
WHY: This marks the first time RVTV has come to Perry, a community that has overcome a tragic school shooting and the closure of one of its largest employers in the past year.
Perry will be the first stop on the 2024 RVTV Cy-Hawk street party tour. For more than 20 years, the WHO-TV Sports team has traveled to small Iowa communities during the week before the Iowa-ISU football game. The communities have fun and games, parades, music, food and more to celebrate the friendly rivalry leading up to the big game.
This year, the RVTV team will head to Perry on Mon., Sept. 2, followed by Mitchellville on Tues., Sept. 3; Oskaloosa on Wed., Sept. 4; Baxter on Thur., Sept. 5; and Newton on Fri., Sept. 6.
