MIG Production Welding

This course is designed to prepare you for production MIG welding, a crucial skill for manufacturers throughout Central Iowa. In addition to welding techniques, the program covers essential topics such as blueprint reading, weld symbols, measuring tools, and layout and fabrication.

You will gain hands-on experience with welding processes, equipment, and safety protocols in a manufacturing environment. Learn to select, read, and calibrate measuring instruments accurately, and use fabrication equipment with proper technique. Additionally, you will apply basic layout techniques using hand tools and learn to cut and heat steel with oxygen/acetylene torch equipment.

Throughout the course, you will practice welding in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions using GMAW (MIG) with pulse, spray, and short-arc transfer methods.
