Administrative Assistant '17

After ten years as a stay-at-home parent as well as several domestic and international moves as a military spouse, I decided that it was time to return to the workforce. I felt that polishing my skills would make me more marketable to an employer and would increase my confidence. Along with DMACC’s wonderful reputation and affordability, the Ankeny campus just so happens to be moments from my home. The decision was easy!

"It was nerve-wracking to walk into my first class after such a long time away from a classroom, but I was quickly put at ease. The class sizes are small enough to allow for interaction with instructors and fellow students. Instructors have always been willing to give assistance or speak outside of class when necessary. I’ve enjoyed my education at DMACC so much that I decided not to just take a few classes but complete the Administrative Assistant program.

Although this is my first semester at DMACC, I took classes all throughout high school. When I came to DMACC, I was surprised to find out that I was the youngest in my classes by a few years. The diversity of ages allows for greater conversation and interaction. I really like the relationship between teachers and students, and I like how open discussions are welcomed and even appreciated. I chose DMACC not only because of its affordability and convenient location, but also because I knew that I would thrive and excel in whatever I chose to do. DMACC is a great school that goes above and beyond to help students reach their goals.
