Spiller has filled various leadership roles at the College over the past six years.
“The goals and objectives of the Student Services Team at Urban Campus and the districtwide responsibilities I will continue to support are all centered around student success and engagement," Spiller said.
In her new role, Spiller will be supporting the teams and functions within the Student Services Area at the Urban Campus, including advising, counseling, orientation, admissions, student activities and financial aid.
Erica Spiller, who is the Assistant Director of Student Development at DMACC, has accepted a new position at the College. Spiller has been named the Associate Provost for Student Services at the DMACC Urban Campus.
“I am so excited about the changes that we've seen in recent months, including this one," said Shelli Allen, DMACC Vice President of Enrollment Services and Student Success. “I know that Erica will continue to provide great leadership at the college."
Spiller said she's excited to serve as the Associate Provost for Student Services at the Urban Campus.
“I am eager to join the students and the team at Urban Campus," Spiller said. “I will be supporting the teams and functions within the Student Services area at Urban Campus, including advising, counseling, orientation, admissions, student activities and financial aid.
Allen said she has asked Spiller to continue to work for the DMACC districtwide Enrollment Services/Student Success team by continuing to lead some of the areas that she has in her current role, including in areas related to student success, engagement and retention.
“The goals and objectives of the Student Services team at Urban Campus and the districtwide responsibilities all center around student success and engagement," Spiller said. “The new and continued responsibilities complement one another, which I believe further empower us to design and implement the best strategies and systems to enhance our successes in how we support students and the community. These shared goals and responsibilities will help the work flow well and better position all the pieces that will enable us to be efficient, effective and strategic in our work."
In the past six years at DMACC, Spiller has led student affairs assessment and orientation for the college as well as working with the Student Success Initiatives/Early Alert Referral Department and the Career Center. In addition to her current role, she also was the Interim Director of Student Development, Orientation and Transfer Coordinator, and adjunct English instructor positions while at DMACC.
Prior to her time at DMACC, Spiller worked as an Associate Academic Dean, Composition Department Chair, and professor at Kaplan University and as a Lead GED instructor for Southwestern Community College's Lyndon B. Johnson Job Corps Center in Sylva, North Carolina.
Spiller holds graduate degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and Purdue University Global. She completed her undergraduate work at Simpson College after transferring from DMACC.
She serves on a number of groups for the college including the Accreditation Taskforce; Assessment Commission; Retention, Recruitment, and Research and Reporting Councils; CRM Advise Implementation Team, Online Advisory Council; Program Evaluation Committee; and the LGBTQ+ Affinity Group.
“With Erica's extensive knowledge of academia and of DMACC, she will be a welcome addition to the campus. I am excited for a future with Erica at the helm of Urban's Student Services," DMACC Urban Campus Provost Dr. Anne Howsare Boyens said.
“I have had the pleasure of working with so many amazing people from the Urban Campus during my time at DMACC, and I am truly looking forward to getting to work with them even more as I join the team at Urban," Spiller said.
Spiller will start her new duties at DMACC's Urban Campus on Wed., May 25.
