DMACC Graphic Design and Animation students recently received 14 awards at the annual Art Directors Association of Iowa (ADAI) Design Exhibition. Since 1958, ADAI has hosted an annual award exhibition celebrating designers across Iowa, and bringing advertising professionals and students together to showcase and recognize their work.

Awards were given to students from two-year colleges and four-year universities in categories such as book design, editorial design, illustration, photography, poster design, digital campaign, animation and more.

"As the new Program Chair of Graphic Design at DMACC, I am elated to see recognition and the awards our students received at the Art Directors of Iowa 62nd Annual ADAI Design Exhibition," said Heather Purdy, DMACC Graphic Design Program Chair. “It is a tremendous honor, and shows the hard work and dedication of students and their instructors."

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the DMACC Graphic Design program, which was called Commercial and Advertising Art when the program was established in the fall of 1970. A total of 17 students were enrolled in that initial class.
