ici and Gezellig Brewing Announce "Dinner & Drafts" Event at Legacy Plaza in Newton

The Iowa Culinary Institute® (ici®) at DMACC and the Gezellig Brewing Company will hold a one-of-a-kind “Dinner & Drafts” Pairing Experience at 6 p.m. on Sat., March 28, at historic Legacy Plaza on the DMACC Newton Campus.

The event will feature a multi-course meal, hand-crafted and prepared on-site by Chef Kate VanDyke from the Iowa Culinary Institute® (ici®) at DMACC, and designed to highlight the unique notes of Gezellig Brewing Company’s award-winning beers.
“This limited-seating event is a perfect opportunity to enjoy great food, great beer and great company while exploring Legacy Plaza, an exciting new destination in Newton,” said Kim Didier, Executive Director of DMACC Business Resources. “The Iowa Culinary Institute® (ici®) at DMACC has trained many of the top chefs in Des Moines and the Midwest, while Gezellig Brewing Company and Head Brewer Grant Heuer recently captured two medals at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival.”

Exploring Legacy Plaza on the DMACC Newton Campus

Legacy Plaza, home of the former Newton Maytag Campus, was donated to DMACC by Reza Kargarzadeh, President and Founder of Engineered Plastic Components, Inc., in 2016. It includes eight buildings and 482,000 square feet now being utilized as office space, lab space, conference rooms, street-level retail, food and beverage establishments – including Gezellig Brewing Company – and more.

The DMACC Newton Campus, which includes Legacy Plaza, currently offers a culinary arts diploma program for students, and beginning in fall 2020, will launch a one-year baking and pastry arts program. To learn more, visit
