DMACC to Celebrate 'Small Steps to Giant Leaps' at ciWeek 10

The free event is March 4-8 at the DMACC West Des Moines Campus

​​Prepare to be inspired! The 10th annual Celebrate! Innovation® Week – also known as ciWeek 10 – is coming up March 4-8 at the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) West Des Moines campus.

Each year, ciWeek brings some of the brightest minds and creative thinkers to Central Iowa. The event is free and open to the public.

The theme of ciWeek 10 is “Small Steps To Giant Leaps" in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. The event will celebrate how small steps – in every field – can often lead to giant leaps forward.

The ciWeek 10 schedule is as follows:

Monday, March 4

12:10 p.m., lunch-n-learn speakerWill Keeps, R & B hip-hop artist and youth-at-risk advocate from Chicago who now lives and works in Des Moines.

3 p.m., free screening of the film First Man: Students and community members are invited to enjoy a FREE screening of the recent Universal Pictures film, First Man, starring actor Ryan Gosling as astronaut Neil Armstrong. 

Tuesday, March 5

12:10 p.m., lunch-n-learn speaker: Dr. Anthony Paustian, organizer of ciWeek and DMACC West Campus Provost, will speak about “The Secret to Achieving Anything Great."​​

Wednesday, March 6

8:30 a.m., keynote speaker: Brian Nelson , a cryptocurrency expert with Disruptive Technologies.

10 a.m., keynote speaker: Jason Feifer, editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur Magazine.

11:30 a.m., keynote speaker: Roy Choi, celebrity chef and a founder of the gourmet food truck movement.

1 p.m., keynote speaker: Danielle Feinberg, Director of Photography and Lighting at Pixar Animation Studios.​

2:30 p.m., Apollo 50th Anniversary Panel featuring:

5 p.m., concertMiles Nielsen & the Rusted Hearts.

6 p.m., keynote speaker: Randi Zuckerberg, former Facebook executive and CEO of Zuckerberg Media.

Thursday, March 7

8:30 a.m., keynote speaker: Tahir Rahman, author of We Came in Peace for All Mankind and psychology professor.

10 a.m., keynote speaker: Will Keeps, R&B hip-hop artist and youth-at-risk advocate.

11:30 a.m., keynote speaker: Lynne Cox , world-record endurance swimmer and best-selling author.

1 p.m., keynote speaker: Dr. James Hansen, author and co-producer of First Man

2:30 p.m., keynote speaker: Jerry Greenfield , Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream co-founder
