Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC’s) Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families (EKD) hired a new Site Coordinator and College Enrollment Specialist for Public Allies Iowa AmeriCorps Program.
Erma Mujic, the new Site Director for Public Allies Iowa, was born in Doboj, Bosnia and Herzegovina where she lived until moving to Des Moines, as a refugee in 2001. Mujic was a student of Des Moines Public Schools and after graduating from Roosevelt High School, she attended Drake University where she obtained a B.A. in Law, Politics and Society and a Master’s in Public Administration.
Rayna Soto, the new College Enrollment Specialist for Public Allies Iowa, is from Lubbock, Texas. Soto attended Texas Tech University for two years, majoring in Interdisciplinary Agriculture and minoring in Plant and Soil Sciences. She intends to participate for two service years, and then return to school to pursue teacher certification in Agricultural Education.
The Public Allies Iowa AmeriCorps Program is a federally sponsored program that creates new opportunities for talented young adults from diverse backgrounds who have a passion to make a difference within their communities. It also helps them turn a passion into a viable career path.
