About the Music Program

DMACC Music Classes are articulated to be accepted by four year institutions; they are variously accepted as humanities core classes, music major credits and electives as part of a DMACC degree. However, unless the music credits are being transferred as part of a DMACC degree, it is important to check with the institution to which a student wants to transfer music credit to learn how DMACC music courses are accepted at that institution.

The Music Program is housed on the Ankeny Campus; however, the Boone, Urban, and West Campuses also offer some music options.

Applied private lessons are offered on all traditional band/orchestral instruments, piano, and voice. For-credit choral ensembles are Concert Choir (MUS 143) and Chamber Ensemble (MUS 275).

For more information about the DMACC Music Program, please contact Dr. James Thompson at 515.964.6633, via email to music@dmacc.edu or by scheduling a meeting with him in the music area of Building #6 on the Ankeny Campus.
