Ankeny Journalism Camp for Middle Schoolers in July

        

Do you know a middle-schooler interested in journalism or media production?
The DMACC Ankeny Campus will be hosting a five-day journalism camp for 10-13 year-olds from July 16th-20th.  Campers will learn the basics of journalism, including interviewing, writing, photography, video, audio, and designing a printed newspaper that they can keep. They will also receive a T-shirt.


The cost is $100 and the camp will run 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Chronicle newsroom.
Campers should bring a bag lunch, but snacks will be provided.

SeaPerch ROV Camp Crime Scene Investigation Camp

June 11-13, 2018
8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
 
Incoming 6th-9th grade
$135 per Camper
 
*Each student is asked to bring a sack lunch including beverage or money to purchase lunch from the DMACC Student Center. Snacks will be provided.
 
This exciting, educational, hands-on, biotechnology CSI camp is filled with multiple exercises led by DMACC Criminal Justice and Biotechnology faculty. 

Experience crime scene investigation and forensic science while you learn the secrets of how CSIs uncover hidden evidence, careful observation and collection of evidence, and detection and interpretation of fingerprints.

During this camp students will solve a fictitious crime, process crime scene evidence, use traditional fingerprinting methods, DNA fingerprinting, Gel electrophoresis, Polymerase chain reaction, and much more.

Auto Mechanic Camp Spy Camp

Think you have what it takes to be an undercover agent?

During Spy Camp students will immerse themselves in the world of security and intelligence, learning investigative and surveillance techniques, developing their undercover disguise, make and break codes, and uncover the science behind being a spy. Students will be trained to develop a heightened sense of awareness of their surroundings, learn the importance of a mission, and use analytical skills by gathering, summarizing, and interpreting information collected through a series of missions and operations.

Spy Camp is a hands-on introduction to the world of being an undercover agent.
