Instructions for the Student

The Student will:

  • Complete the Free Application for Student Assistance (FAFSA) form in order to determine financial need and work study eligibility (www.fafsa.ed.gov). Award notifications will be sent by Financial Aid to students who are eligible for Federal College Work Study (FCWS).
  • Contact the Student Employment Assistance (SEA) representative at their campus for employment opportunities.
  • Complete the online Work Study Orientation.
  • Review information regarding open positions.
  • Notify the SEA representative of their interest in a position.
  • Be interviewed for the position with the hiring department.
  • If recommended for hire, the student is asked to complete an Authorization/Consent for Background Check form and the National Background Check form if the student has lived outside the state of Iowa. A background check/sexual offender check is completed on all candidates for employment at DMACC. If a conviction/convictions are reported on the background check report, there is a procedure to determine whether or not the student will be eligible for employment.
  • Once the student is approved for employment, the student will work with the hiring department to decide on a start date.
  • Complete all forms in the new employee packet.
  • Receive training on Web Time Entry (electronic timesheet) by the hiring department.
