Procedure

If there are items that appear on either the background check or sexual offender registry, Human Resources will review the information to determine if convictions will keep the student from being employed based on the grid developed in coordination with legal counsel.

If the student is NOT eligible for employment:

The HR department:

  • Contacts the Hiring Department to inform them the student is not eligible for hire.

The Financial Aid department:

  • Notifies Student Employment so that the position can be reposted.

The Hiring Department:

  • Informs the student that they were NOT eligible for employment.

If the student has questions regarding the denial of employment, they are referred to Human Resources (515-964-6288). Ineligible students are entitled to a copy of the background check report from HR if they request one.
