Holocaust Survivor Celina Karp Biniaz

Biniaz, originally from Krakow, Poland, was on Schindler’s List, but was accidentally sent to Auschwitz. There, she confronted the infamous Josef Mengele, who sentenced her to death. Biniaz pleaded for her life saying, “Let Me Go.” Miraculously, the Angel of Death changed his mind. After liberation, Biniaz moved to Iowa and became an educator. Her talks are part of a partnership between the WHE program and the Iowa Jewish Historical Society.

Auditions for Summer Short Shakespeare '19 - Love's Labor's Lost will be held in the Black Box Theatre in Building 5 on April 15 and April 16 at 7 pm. Auditions will consist of readings from the play and a short dance call. Everyone is encouraged to audition. About Summer Short Shakespeare: Every summer we will look to perform one of Shakespeare's plays in about 75-minutes in a non-traditional theatre space. About Love's Labor's Lost: King Ferdinand and some of his gentlemen followers have decided to dedicate three years to study. To prove their devotion to learning they agree to fast, sleep little, and see no women. But the beautiful Princess of France and her friends have just arrived... How long will the This comedy of wit in our SSS! production will be infused with contemporary music and pop culture references. Playing inside the Ankeny Campus Library in Building 6 June 22 at 2 & 7:30 pm June 23 at 2 pm June 28 at 7:30 pm June 29 at 2 & 7:30 pm Questions can be directed to theatre@dmacc.edu.

L.E.A.P. is a leadership conference for underrepresented high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in Iowa. The Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling’s Inclusion, Access, and Success Committee is proud to announce that registration for the 4th annual L.E.A.P. Conference is open! L.E.A.P. will empower underrepresented students to understand the life-long rewards that come from leadership, good decision-making, and academic success. Participants will attend breakout sessions designed to encourage and equip students for life beyond high school. L.E.A.P. attendees will have the opportunity to learn from a variety of professionals, as well as from one another, about what it takes to achieve their goals and be successful.
