DMACC Healthcare Simulation Center's Open House

In conjunction with Healthcare Simulation Week 2018, to be held September 17 – 21, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is holding an open house for the DMACC Healthcare Simulation Center. Learn more about DMACC’s Simulation Center and how simulation learning is utilized by DMACC healthcare education students and healthcare providers from the community. Also, meet faculty and staff, interact with simulation mannequins, take self-guided tours and enjoy light refreshments. Visit the DMACC Simulation Center website.

Vet Tech Club Dog Wash and Microchip Clinic

Campus: Ankeny
Location: Behind the FFA Enrichmnent Center

The DMACC Vet Tech Club is holding its Semi-annual Dog Wash Saturday September 22nd from 10am to 2 pm. The event will be held on the DMACC Ankeny Campus behind the FFA Enrichment Center. Signs will be posted. A dog bath will be only $15 for a wash and towel dry or blow out. Only socialized dogs on short leashes (No flexi-leashes) please. Homeagain microchips (https://www.homeagain.com/microchipping.html) will also be available for dogs, cats and other small pets. All cats and other small pets must be in carriers. The microchips are $40.00 and the fee includes implantation of the chip and registration. All proceeds from the event benefit the DMACC Vet Tech Club and their philanthropic endeavors. This event will be held weather permitting.

Iowa State University - Latino/a Family Visit Day

Latino Family Visit Days The Latino/a Family Visit Day is an event hosted by The Iowa State Chapter of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. in collaboration with the Office of Admissions. This day is designed to give students and their families a chance to learn about the opportunities and services available to our Latino/a students. Throughout the visit day, participants will be able to learn about different student organizations and resources on campus, explore the campus, meet with staff, and hear from current students about their experiences as a Latino/a student on campus. How Python handles the various numeric types and strings. Basic function definition and function calling, as well as argument passing. How to write and execute your own Python programs. No downloads or time-intensive set-up required!

Seed Harvest and Bonfire with S’mores at Chichaqua

Join us for a fun afternoon at Chichaqua Bottoms Park. We will be harvesting native prairie seeds then enjoying s’mores around a bonfire. Registration is required for this event. If you need transportation for this event please register for this event by choosing “Seed Harvesting and S’mores at Chichaqua – October 3 - NEED TRANSPORT.” If you do not need transportation please register by choosing “Seed Harvesting and S’mores at Chichaqua – October 3- NO TRANSPORT.” The transportation option is limited to the first 14 people to register. This is a family friendly event, and you are encouraged to bring children and family over the age of 5 if you are planning to transport yourself.

Hawk Migration at the High Trestle Trail

Each fall, from September through December, bird-of-prey enthusiasts gather at hawk watches around the state to observe and count eagles, hawks, falcons and other raptors as they migrate south. Using thermals and up-drafts along major river valleys, thousands of these fascinating creatures follow Iowa’s “hawk highways” as they make their way south from northern nesting grounds. Join us on the High Trestle Trail Bridge and learn to identify these beautiful birds in flight. Transportation is provided. Registration is required for this event.
