The Adult Literacy Center at DMACC is a free resource for Central Iowa adults who need help with their reading, writing and/or speaking skills. The Center's mission is to improve literacy, resulting in enhanced self-esteem, daily living and lifelong learning. And volunteers help make it possible!
How can you help?
Right now, the Center is looking for some additional Volunteer Literacy Coaches to work with local adults on their reading, writing and/or speaking skills. Volunteers work with an individual student, which is an impactful and rewarding experience for both the student and the volunteer. All DMACC students are encouraged to consider volunteering! Plus, if you are interested in pursuing a career as a teacher or working in a human services field, this is an excellent opportunity to gain additional experience and build your resume.
