On September 5th, 2017, action was taken by the U.S. Government to begin the phasing out of DACA. The U.S. Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS) is no longer accepting initial or renewal requests for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. For further information, please visit the
USCIS website. Individuals can call the USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 with questions or to request more information on DACA.

English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction is offered at the non-credit and credit level. This program provides quality ESL instruction to speakers of other languages so that they may succeed in academic, work, or career programs.
You do not need to apply for Admission for non-credit ESL courses. The courses are free!

The HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) is an assessment of skills and knowledge comparable to those of a high school graduate. It is not to be considered a substitute for completing high school and earning a diploma. It is an alternative for those who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to finish high school. HiSET has replaced GED in the state of Iowa as the assessment tool used to award the High School Equivalency Diploma.

You will qualify for in-state tuition and fees if you provide proof you have graduated from an Iowa high school and meet the DMACC in-state residency requirements.
- You must provide a copy of your final high school transcript to the Admissions Office.
- You must also establish residency in Iowa 90 days prior to the start of the semester. If you are not a resident of Iowa, please review our Residency Requirements for more information.
