In May 2011, Ms. Boeckmann graduated from Drake University with a Master of Public Administration. In addition to completing the Respiratory Care Program at Des Moines Area Community College in 2006, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa in 2001.
Outside of DMACC, Ms. Boeckmann is currently the President for the Iowa Society for Respiratory Care to support and advance the respiratory care profession in the state of Iowa. This is her tenth year serving on the board. This involvement also provided an opportunity to be a board member for the American Lung Association. Ms. Boeckmann was actively involved in the change to the new Therapist Multiple Choice Exam as a consultant for the National Board for Respiratory Care and continues to serve as a consultant for the NBRC Therapist Multiple Choice Exam.
In 2013, Ms. Boeckmann was named a STEM Gem for her use and leadership in Simulation. This was a unique opportunity to bring healthcare into the STEM umbrella. On April 1, 2013, Ms. Boeckmann received the DMACC Alumni Early Achievement Award, which recognized alumni who had graduated from DMACC within the past 10 years and displayed exemplary personal or professional achievement or volunteer service to their community.
Ms. Boeckmann was the Director of Clinical Education in the Respiratory Care Program at Hawkeye Community College from January 2008 to August 2013. She was involved in the college by serving as the Advisor for the Respiratory Therapy Club, member of the Curriculum Committee, Distance Education Task Force, and Learning Management System Task Force and participated in the Mentor/Mentee Program on campus. During her last year at HCC, she became co-chair of the Assessment Committee. Ms. Boeckmann was also honored to represent faculty on the Hawkeye Community College Foundation Board. In addition to faculty at HCC, Ms. Boeckmann worked in the Des Moines area at facilities such as On With Life, Inc, Mercy Medical Center, Mary Greeley Medical Center, and the VA of Central Iowa. These experiences provided her with an excellent foundation of the respiratory care profession.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, being outdoors and spending time with her husband and two children.
